![]() In the original news reports on the situation at Virginia Tech, two issues emerged that should concern both students at any university as well as their parents.įirst of all, some national fraternity offices are known to “look the other way” when a fraternity is suspended from campus and simply allow the fraternity to continue operations from an off-campus location. In 2018, SC was on “deferred suspension” when it was suspended for 5 years for multiple violations, including lying to school officials. once referred to SAE as “ the deadliest fraternity in America.” SAE holds the unenviable records for the most fraternity-related deaths (12 in 20 years) and number of local chapters suspended for incidents of sexual assault, drug abuse, racism, and many other violations of host school policies. We have reported on this fraternity in the past. SAE was on “deferred suspension” when it was suspended in 2016 for alcoholic beverage and Code of Conduct violations. OPP was suspended in 2016 for violations related to hazing and Code of Conduct. Lambda Chi Alpha has a long history of suspensions from other campuses for matters such as hazing, drug dealing, and sexual battery. LCA was suspended for hazing, alcoholic beverage, and Code of Conduct violations as well as lying to school investigators. Kappa Sigma also has a long history of infractions at other schools and has been linked to at least 2 deaths. Although eligible, it has not yet formally applied for reinstatement. KS was suspended for 4 years in 2015 after being found to have committed multiple violations of hazing, alcoholic beverage and Code of Conduct policies. While on “deferred suspension” in 2016, KDR was charged with alcoholic beverage and Code of Conduct violations. KAP also has a history of hazing and violence at other campuses. KAP was suspended earlier this year for hazing and Code of Conduct violations. With the exceptions of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Chi, discussed below, DTD has been suspended from more campuses than any other fraternity mentioned on this page.
